The growing need for potable water for populations and industry today often surpasses the output of natural water sources more than it used to. To meet these needs, desalinated and demineralised water plants are becoming more and more common for water treatment. Utilizing CO2 for this purpose is a process that is clean, efficient and non-toxic, therefore very promising for the future.
The use of CO2 for water treatment mirrors its use in the pulp and paper industry in terms of pH control. CO2 provides a weak natural acid when dissolved in water, and as such, using it for supplying drinking water is generally acceptable. It also offers the benefit of being more ecological than using mineral acids in this application.
CO2 Solutions’ technology can be integrated into water treatment plants in order to provide an efficient and secure on-site source of CO2 in conjunction with co-located boiler operations.
