Desalinated and demineralised water plants are becoming ever more common as the load on natural water sources is outstripped by population and industrial needs. The use of CO2 for water treatment mirrors its use in the pulp and paper industry in terms of pH control. CO2 provides a weak natural acid when dissolved in water. This means that its use in the provision of potable water is generally acceptable and its introduction as a gas allows for easy control. It is also regarded as more environmentally friendly than the use of mineral acids. As such, CO2 Solutions’ technology can be implemented to provide an efficient and secure on-site source of CO2 in conjunction with co-located boiler operations.
